East Grinstead U13 135/6 (16overs) beat Three Bridges U13 43/6 (16overs) by 92 Runs
East Grinstead U13’s kicked off their new season with a comprehensive win over local rivals Three Bridges in the Cup.
With the start being delayed due to traffic problems around Crawley the match was reduced to 16overs per side. Three Bridges won the toss and decided to field first. This appeared to be a good decision as they quickly had EG struggling at 1-2 after 2 overs. However, with Daniel Burton playing calmly and sensibly at one end, he was joined by Luca Anderson and Louis Riley respectively who started to hit the ball around the park. Daniel and Louis both managed to reach 30 and retire not out which helped the team to an impressive 135 of their 16overs.
Now it was Three Bridges turn to bat. Facing EG opening barrage from the pacey opening duo of John Bishop and Rhys Hunt they struggled to get much momentum on the scoring rate, especially with Arthur Whymans solid wicket keeping. The bowling attack continued to be miserly and with Dhruv Patel bowling a maiden ,Three Bridges only managed to get to 43 runs and suffer defeat.
The result was due to a terrific all round team performance and bodes well for the rest of the season.
